For a movie franchise as iconic as the Justice League, it's no surprise that it has made its way into television in some form or another. Although the TV shows produced over the years have not all seen the same level of success, each show has brought something unique to the franchise.

The first Justice League TV series to hit the small screen was the Animated Series, which aired from 2001-2007. It was widely praised for its unique art style and faithful adaptation of the comic books. It also ushered in the next wave of DC Animated Universe, which includes the likes of The Batman, Superman, and Teen Titans. The show lay the groundwork for the DCAU as we know it today, introducing ideas and characters that still remain prominent in the entire franchise.

From there, the Justice League was further reprised with Cartoon Network’s Justice League Unlimited. The show served as a continuation of the Animated Series, picking up where it left off and introducing more characters and ideas while staying true to the source material.

Building off of the success of the animated series, the writers of the CW’s Smallville then produced a spin-off series called Justice League. This live-action show was based off of the same characters, but with a much younger cast. It was unique because it explored the backstories of characters such as Wonder Woman, Superman, and Aquaman, and it showed them teaming up on their own adventures. The show may have not lasted long, but it really helped to expand the Justice League universe.

Lastly, the newest member of the Justice League TV show family is the CW’s Arrowverse. This show has found success with its mix of action, melodrama, and humor. It’s distinct look and feel have allowed it to become one of the most popular superhero shows on TV. The Arrowverse not only saw the addition of characters such as Superman and Martian Manhunter but it also featured team-ups between some of the most powerful heroes and villains from both Marvel and DC.

All in all, the Justice League TV shows have been able to stay exciting and engaging by introducing new characters and storylines while still looking to the source material. The shows have given us unique interpretations of iconic characters, and have showcased some exciting team-ups. The Justice League has certainly become something bigger than what was initially imagined.
